    Part Seven.44 - Bad Quarter .

    Remember how ever bad you think you have it, GM probably had it worse. They managed to lose $39 billion last quarter. It's all new math, however just some accounting tricks involving expiring tax credits. Of course its much worse than that, they lost 1.6 billion even without the accounting charge. In addition the writing down of the credits indicates that the future profit stream is looking bleak. Not all of that loss was from selling cars, apparently they had a hand in the mortgage business through one of their subsidiaries (about a $750 million dollar loss). So be happy that your quarter wasn't quite as bleak (unless you happen to work for GM or own a lot of GM stock).
