Part eight.10 - March into Madness

In rally racing, it's fairly easy to keep the mud off windshield if you're running in the lead. As soon as the competitors close in, then it splatters everywhere. Of course, it's a far more interesting race if the competitors are right by each other. This leads to jostling for position and more often than not, a minor bump or nudge. With an especially aggressive competitor, the tiny bumps eventually magnify into something else entirely. You can get a flaming pileup as it devolves into a one-on-one battle of wills against that one driver instead of about winning the race. Then again, it's the only way to know how far a racer one was willing to go to win.
